My Readiness for Missions 个人的宣教准备

There are many qualities of character, life, calling, and skills that go into making an effective missionary.  Following is a list of some of these areas.  Go through and check off those that are true in your life.  You don’t have to have every one of these to go to the field.  Some of these will grow on the field.  However, you should have many of these because they will help you become a good missionary.  They will also help you think through whether you are called to be a missionary or not.  If many of these items are missing and you still want to go to the field, you can work on developing them.  Again, many of these have links that go into more detail about why these are important on the field and how to gain these.

Basic Christian Life:

• I have been “born again” by the Spirit of God, saved from my old life and brought into new life.

• I have been learning from the Word of God and obeying it in my life.

• I have been baptized, representing death to my old life and resurrection into new life.

• I am actively part of my local church.

• I love to memorize the Word of God and do so regularly

Spiritual Life

Studies that have been done on missionaries on the field have found that one of the greater stressors they experience is maintaining their spiritual life.  The is an area that is crucial for effectiveness and fruitfulness “He who abides in Me and I in him bears much fruit.” (Jn. 15:5)  Therefore this is an area that Satan attacks to prevent the missionary from spending time with the Lord in fellowship with Him and listening to Him.  Oftentimes it is because of the busyness of life that this happens.  Don’t be caught in this trap.

• I live a life controlled by the Holy Spirit

• I demonstrate daily confession of sin to God as part of life

• I desire purity of thought life, motives, and actions

• I have personal self-control

• I am perceived as a godly person by my community

• I practice spiritual disciplines of prayer, intercession, waiting on God, meditation, praise, thanksgiving, fasting 

• I know how to be filled with the Spirit and practice this on a daily basis; I know how to walk in the Spirit as a daily practice; and I maintain my spiritual life through obedience to the Spirit of God

• My daily life is characterized by the fruit of the Spirit

• I know how to apply Jesus’ blood and authority to my personal life; I understand how to break spiritual bondages, resist Satan by the Word, prayer, and the blood (that is, I am effective in "Spiritual Warfare")

• I live a life of faith in daily ministry, demonstrating the power and authority of Jesus. I have confidence in God’s sovereign power over my life.

• I know how to hear and be guided by the Holy Spirit

• I am conscious of God’s presence

• I understand and practice what the Bible teaches about forgiveness and reconciliation

Family Life Skills  (if you are married)

​

One of the biggest areas that Satan attacks is on marriage and family relationships.  This is because marriage is a picture of the relationship of Christ and the church.  While many husbands know that the Scriptures say the wife is to obey the husband, they don’t know how to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself (unto death) for the church. (Eph. 5:22-33)
